Hudson man charged with child pornography offences

Posted: Updated:
HUDSON, FL -

United States Attorney Robert E. O'Neill announces the filing of a criminal complaint charging Wayne Miner (44, Hudson) with transportation, receipt, and possession of child pornography.  If convicted, Miner faces a mandatory minimum of five years in federal prison and a maximum penalty of 50 years in federal prison.

The complaint alleges that Miner traded child pornography with others using at least two e-mail addresses and the Internet.  His computer and cellular phone contained numerous files of child pornography.

A criminal complaint is merely a formal charge that a defendant has committed a violation of the federal criminal laws, and every defendant is presumed innocent unless, and until, proven guilty.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations, and the Pasco County Sheriff's Office.  It will be prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Jennifer L. Peresie.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice. Led by United States Attorneys' Offices and the Criminal Division's Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section (CEOS), Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state and local resources to better locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims.
