ROANOKE, VA -

Virginia Senator Tim Kaine made a stop in Roanoke to discuss future economic development in the area along with what's happening in Congress.

Kaine met with community leaders at the Roanoke Chamber of Commerce.

He discussed a wide range of topics from immigration reform, to his support for the Marketplace Fairness Act.

The bill is being debated in the Senate, and will likely be voted on next week.  It would give states the power to require large businesses to collect sales taxes for online purchases, based on where the person making the purchase is from.

The Roanoke Chamber says it's a bill business owners in the area are watching very closely.

Roanoke Mayor David Bowers also gave Senator Kaine a tour focusing on the growth of Downtown Roanoke.
