Man found guilty of killing high school football player in Durham

DURHAM, N.C. -

Gabriel Gamez was  found guilty of first-degree murder in the case of Darrell Turner on Thursday in Durham.

Gamez was sentenced to life in prison without parole.

Turner was going to Florida with a high school all-star football team when he stopped in Durham in June 2011.

A confrontation with Gamez, of San Antonio, followed. According to the autopsy, Turner was shot in the back.
