ROANOKE, VA -

Community School is holding its annual fundraiser this weekend, The Strawberry Festival, but students are also raising money for Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation at the same time.

Teacher Andrea Micklem says every student at Community School is involved in some sort of service project.

Her class came up with the idea to raise money for JDRF after learning a student was suffering from Type 1 diabetes.

This weekend they're selling greeting cards designed by each member of the class.

"There are those few moments when there's something special that happens in a classroom with children when you sort of feel like, you know, I've been trying my best and I hope I've been doing a good job teaching, but this really was a good thing, I'm glad that we took the time for it," said Micklem.

The students will be set up under a tent selling their cards on Saturday.

$5 will get you pack of 12 cards.
