2 dead in head-on crash near Richlands - WSLS 10 NBC in Roanoke/Lynchburg Va

UPDATE: Victims identified in deadly Onslow crash

RICHLANDS, N.C. -

Troopers have identified the drivers killed in an Onslow County crash Friday afternoon.

Edward Johnson of Franklin, VA was driving the Ford SUV.  Sherry Ellis of Rocky Mount was driving the Kia SUV. 

Bobbie Jo Bateman of Rocky Mount was a passenger in the Kia.  She was flown to New Hanover Regional in Wilmington.  Her condition is unknown, but the trooper investigating the crash says she was awake and talking.

Two people are dead after a fatal crash near the Onslow/Jones county lines.

Highway Patrol troopers tell 9 On Your Side that two SUV's hit one another head-on along Highway 258 in Richlands.

The driver in each car was killed.

A passenger in another car was flown to New Hanover in Wilmington for treatment. That person's condition and identity hasn't been released at the current time.

A dog in one of the vehicles was taken to a nearby animal shelter.
