Former Internet cafe owner charged with cheating IRS

The former owner of a couple of Internet cafes in the Roanoke Valley is now facing a federal charge of cheating on his business taxes.

Ronnie Bennett, who owned an Internet cafe in Roanoke police raided back in 2009, then moved his business into Roanoke County, where police raided him again in 2010, is accused of not paying his taxes on some prize payouts.

Court records show Bennett would encourage customers and instruct employees to pay out prizes of $600 or more in installments, which is against federal law.

Bennett's accused of trying to fleece the IRS between February 2009 and April 2010.

No trial date has been set.
