D.C. police investigate armed robbery gang with a tie to Roanoke

Court records show Metro police (Washington D.C.) searched a 17-year-old boy's room here in Roanoke for evidence in an armed robbery spree investigation.

The teen lives at the Intercept Youth Services home here in Roanoke.

Intercept helps troubled teens rehabilitate.

Court records claim police used the teen's ankle bracelet to connect him several armed robberies in the D.C. area.

Metro police say in the court papers that several robbers targeted women between April 4th and April 28th.

The robbers would take their purses, sometimes at gunpoint.

A search warrant for the teen's room shows police took a black ski mask and a gray hooded sweatshirt, two clothing items matching the description of one of the robbers.

A staff member at Intercept declined comment since the teen is underage.

    According to Roanoke City Police a shooting suspect is at large after one person was shot on the Roanoke River Greenway near the Ramada Inn on Franklin Road. Police say the victim has non-life threatening injuries. The call came in around 8:55.
