UPDATE: Roanoke Police name man found dead after car fire

Roanoke City Police say the Medical Examiner's Office determined the man who was found dead inside a burned out car was 69-year-old Dwight Eugene Cecil, of Roanoke.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Monday, 11:10 a.m.

Roanoke Police say one person is dead after a vehicle fire on Allison Ave.

Police say they arrived at the scene on the 400 block of Allison at 3:58 a.m.  Once the fire was extinguished, a body was found in the passenger area of the car. Police are investigating the death, the body has not been identified at this time.

Police say Roanoke Fire & EMS and the State Medical Examiner's office are also taking part in the investigation.
