Salem High School volleyball coach resigns

SALEM, VA -

Salem High School's varsity volleyball coach has resigned.

According to city spokesman Mike Stevens, Kim Martinez handed in her letter of resignation as coach this past Friday, to Salem H.S. principal John Hall.  Stevens added the Martinez told her team this morning (Monday) about the resignation.

Martinez became head coach on 2009, after serving as an assistant coach starting in 2006.

Salem City Schools hired Martinez in 1999 as a Spanish teacher at Andrew Lewis Middle School.  She moved to Salem High School to continue teaching in 2010.
