Workshop discusses importance of agritourism

Posted: Updated:

Local land owners and farmers came together to learn more about the benefits of agritourism in our area.

The Virginia Cooperative Extension along with the Blue Ridge Land Conservancy held a workshop called 'Agritourism in a Creative Economy.'

They taught local professionals how to best make a profit from farming. The event was held at a successful agriculture tourism spot in Vinton.

"Brealoch Lounge is a wonderful venue for weddings, corporate events, and it's also conserved by the blue ridge land conservancy, so it was a natural fit," executive director of Blue Ridge Land Conservancy, David Perry says.

The workshop also covered marketing strategies, legal considerations, and managing liabilities.
