Durham police arrest 1 in Eva Street shooting, 1 still wanted

Durham police have arrested one teen and are still searching for the other in connection with a shooting Tuesday night on Eva Street.

Jarrion Elgric Hood, 17, of Angier Avenue, was arrested on the 900 block of Angier Avenue Friday and is being held in the Durham County Jail under $5 million bond. He will face charges of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and kidnapping.

Police say Tyrico "Smiley" Bowens and Hood were involved in the shooting of a 36-year-old male on the 800 block of Eva Street at approximately 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Police say the two males approached him from behind and shot him. They then fled in a van.

The victim was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

Bowens, 19, of Grant Street, is wanted on charges of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and kidnapping. He has not been arrested.
