Blacksburg Transit to provide extra service for Saturday exams

Due to Virginia Tech exams, Blacksburg Transit will provide extra service on Saturday, May 11.  All routes in Blacksburg will be in service, operating on either 15 or 30 minute frequency.  Note:  During this time BT4U will only predict the regularly scheduled Saturday service. See below for specific route details.

  • CRC Shuttle - Will operate on 30 minute frequency from 7 am - 5:30 pm. Route will end service at 5:30 pm.
  • Harding Ave - Will operate on 30 minute frequency from 7 am - 5:30 pm.  After 5:30 pm, the route will return to hourly service and combine with Hethwood.
  • Hethwood (alternate route) - Will operate on 15 minute frequency from 7 am - 5:30 pm.  After 5:30 pm. the route will return to hourly service and combine with Harding Avenue.
  • Hokie Express - Will operate on 30 minute frequency from 7 am - 2:30 am.  The Hokie Express will operate continuously throughout the day. It will not stop service in the middle of the day like it normally does on Saturdays.
  • Main Street - Will operate on 30 minute frequency from 7 am - 5:30 pm and will follow the normal Saturday route via Giles Road.  After 5:30 pm, the route will return to hourly service.
  • Patrick Henry - Will operate on 15 minute frequency from 7 am - 5:30 pm.  Route will end service at 5:30 pm.
  • Progress St. - Will operate on 15 minute frequency from 7 am - 5:30 pm.  After 5:30 pm, Progress Street route will return to hourly service, combining with the UCB route.
  • Toms Creek - Will operate on 15 minute frequency from 7 am - 5:30 pm. During this time the route will follow Toms Creek.  After 5:30 pm, the route will return to 30 minute frequency and begin following the alternate route along Progress Street.
  • Two Town Trolley - The Two Town Trolley is unaffected and will follow its normal Saturday schedule.
  • UCB - Will operate on 15 minute frequency from 7 am - 5:30 pm.  After 5:30 pm, UCB will return to hourly service, combining with the Progress Street route.
  • U-Mall Shuttle - Will operate on 15 minute frequency from 9 am - 5:30 pm.  Route will end service at 5:30 pm.

     Roanoke Police are investigating after a man was shot in the Schewels parking lot on the 3600 block of Ferncliff Avenue. Police says it does not appear to be a random act. One man was shot and taken to the hospital.
