Roanoke Centre Avenue fire kills cats

ROANOKE, VA -

10:11 p.m.

Roanoke Fire-EMS says the damage from the fire is estimated at $27,600.

The firefighter who was taken to the hospital, has been treated and released.

This morning Roanoke Fire-EMS responded to a fire on the 1500 block of Centre Avenue. 

Fire officials say one person was injured in the fire, that person was treated on scene.  One firefighter was transported to the hospital with some minor injuries.  Officials also say 2 cats were killed in the fire.

Firefighters say there is heavy damage to the home.  The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
