It's one of the most prestigious scholar athlete awards this area can boast..The Don Holliday Memorial Scholarship Winner.  Its the combination of golf, academics..and community service--and it comes with a big prize.

Twenty thousand dollars to Kolton Cooper of Franklin County High School.  As the National Honor Society student and standout golfer for the Eagles becomes the latest winner. He sports a 4.07 GPA and will attend Roanoke College in the fall. He won the Western Valley District golf tournament in 2011 and was third this past season. Kolton volunteers at the First Tee, the Franklin Co. Rec Department, the Booker T. Washington National Monument and the Scott Robertson Memorial tournament. He becomes the 27th student from SW Virginia to receive the award. Since 1987 they have awarded nearly 300 thousand dollars in scholarship money to students.
