ROANOKE, VA -

The annual Proceeds for Poverty sale is going on right now in Roanoke selling everything from Christmas decorations to furniture.

It's put on by the nonprofit Global Partners in Peace and Development.

100 volunteers from churches across the Roanoke Valley participate. This is the third year for the event. Last year the event raised more than $30,000 to help some of the poorest people in the world doing things like providing clean water, orphans homes, sewing businesses and providing food.

"Just a small little thing, each of us does something, it makes a huge difference and it's cool to buy things and make a big difference at the same time" said Heidi Grooms, the event organizer.

The sale started today and runs through Saturday at the old Kroger building on the corner of Orange and King St. In Roanoke.

You can shop Thursday, May 16 & Friday, May 17 (9AM - 7PM), Saturday, May 18 (9AM - 2PM)
