Cumberland Co. man charged after throwing hot grease on girlfriend's face

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -

Cumberland County officials have charged a St. Pauls man after he threw hot grease from a frying pan onto his girlfriend's face.

Carlie Jason Tyler, 34, of St. Pauls, was arrested shortly after the incident at the home he shared with his 39-year-old girlfriend.

Tyler is currently in the Cumberland County Detention Center where he is being held without bond. He is charged with assault inflicting serious bodily injury and assault on a female.

The victim has been sent to UNC Hospitals Burn Center in Chapel Hill. She suffered second-degree burns to her face, chest, arms and hands.

Tyler will make his first court appearance today at 2:30 p.m.
