TRAFFIC ALERT: Blacksburg Transit major detours May 20-June 16th

Blacksburg Transit Major Detours Monday, May 20 – Sunday, June 16

Stanger Street will be closed to all traffic Monday, May 20 – Sunday, June 16 for steam tunnel work. These dates and Blacksburg Transit detours are subject to change, so please check www.btransit.org often for updates.

Bus Stops Affected

  • All stops on Stanger Street will be closed (stops 1104, 1105, 1106,) Torgersen Hall stop (stop 1114), and Prices Fork/Turner Eastbound (stop 1334).

Routes Affected

Hethwood/Harding Ave: This combined route will be separated during the weekday daytime into individual routes with separate buses serving each route. The combined route will resume at 6:45pm.  Weekends will use the combined route all day long.  Please see below for details.

  • Hethwood Only

--Inbound buses from Tall Oaks to campus will follow Prices Fork, turn right on West Campus, left onto the Drillfield to Burruss Hall.

  • Hethwood / Harding

--Hethwood Portion

--Inbound buses from Tall Oaks to campus will follow Prices Fork Road, turn right on West Campus, left onto the Drillfield, right on Alumni Mall to Squires East.

  • Toms Creek Timecheck moves to Newman Library

--Inbound buses to campus will follow normal route, but will stop at Newman Library to timecheck.

--Outbound buses from campus will depart from Newman and turn right on Alumni Mall, left on Main, and left on Progress to resume normal route.

  • UCB / Progress

UCB

--Inbound buses to campus will follow Main Street, turn right on Alumni Mall and right on the Drillfield to Burruss.

Progress

--Outbound buses from Burruss Hall to Patrick Henry follow the normal Progress St. route

--Inbound buses from Patrick Henry to Burruss Hall will follow Toms Creek, turn left on Prices Fork, right on Main, right on Alumni Mall, right on the Drillfield to Burruss Hall

    According to Roanoke City Police a shooting suspect is at large after one person was shot on the Roanoke River Greenway near the Ramada Inn on Franklin Road. Police say the victim has non-life threatening injuries. The call came in around 8:55.
