Authorities report that the vehicle involved in the accident was a 1997 Cadillac that was actually participating in the parade.  Around 60 people were hurt.

Lauren Haviland reports that one of two people being treated at the hospital in Bristol has been released.

The patient airlifted to Johnson City Medical Center is in stable condition.  We just got that update from Teresa Hicks, Mountain States Health Alliance spokesperson.

Pokey Harris, Emergency Management Coordinator with Washington County, VA, says three people were airlifted from the scene at "Trail Days" in Damascus. Harris says two people were taken to Bristol Regional Medical Center and one went to Johnson City Medical Center. Again, Teresa Hicks with Mountain States Health Alliance says seven people were taken by ambulance to Johnston Memorial Hospital with less severe injuries.

Harris also tells News Channel 11 the driver of the vehicle that hit the pedestrians is a male who had a medical emergency, which she says likely caused the wreck.

Harris confirmed to News Channel 11 triage has been set up at the bingo hall and the fire department in Damascus.

Damascus Police Chief Bill Nunley will hold a news conference at 6 p.m. and he will release more information then.

Jim Wozniak with Wellmont Health System says two patients were flown into Bristol Regional Medical Center by helicopter and he says the hospital doesn't expect more patients to be transported there. Again, Wozniak tells News Channel 11 those patients are in good condition.

Spokesperson for Johnston Memorial Hospital reports they have gotten 7 patients from the crash in Damascus. None of the patients at that hospital have life threatening injuries. They don't expect any more patients from that accident. They were operating under emergency procedures, but have no returned to normal operations.

Kylie McGivern is on her way to the scene. She reports a lot of traffic on Highway 58. Avoid the area if possible.

A Helicopter has landed at the hospital in Bristol.  Reporter Lauren Haviland is on the scene.

Hospital spokesperson says he will have information about the number of victims very shortly.

Teresa Hicks with Mountain States Health Alliance says four patients have arrived at Johnston Memorial Hospital and three more people are on the way. She says none of their injuries are life-threatening.

Teresa Hicks with Mountain States Health Alliance confirms fewer than five people with less severe injuries are on their way by ambulance to Johnston Memorial Hospital.  Hicks says people with more severe injuries are likely headed to Bristol Regional Medical Center.

Law enforcement officials tell News Channel 11 a vehicle drove into a group of several people at "Trail Days" in Damascus. Pokey Harris, Emergency Management Coordinator with Washington County, VA, says the earliest reports indicate 50 to 60 injuries, some being critical. Harris says it is likely that 12 to 15 people were transported to local hospitals. She says there are no reports right now of any fatalities.
