That's why 'Virginia's Blue Ridge' is promoting our region by connecting with different news publications across the country, letting them know what our area has to offer.
Since 2010 the group has hosted about 130 journalists from places like Florida, Kentucky, Boston and several big cities.
The media coverage has helped reached more than one hundred 120 million people.
The last three years, Catherine Fox, the Virginia's Blue Ridge Director of Tourism and Communication. Says Virginia's Blue Ridge has made it a priority to bring in journalists from different travel magazines and trade publications to promote the area.
The Pittsburgh Post Gazette published an article encouraging people to check out Virginia's Blue Ridge, something Fox says is huge endorsement and will hopefully bring in more dollars to the area.
With the summer season getting ready to begin, the goal is for this publicity to help make the Roanoke region a stop in people's travel plans.
