Baker and Brailsford win B'nai B'rith Awards

Posted: Updated:

Mike London had some words of wisdom at the B'nai B'rith Athletic and Achievement awards on Monday night.  This set of awards are based on 50 percent athletics--25 percent academics...and 25 percent personal life-or community service--making them extra special.  The Cavs football coach had much to say to the boys and girls finaists from 19 participating high schools.  The 63rd edition of these athletic and achievement awards had a room full of worthy candidates.

The boys winner-- Cave Spring's Connor Baker.  The football and basketball star overcame a serious knee injury and has a serious resume of commuity service--he's headed to Virginia Tech.  The girls winner--Caroline Brailsford of Patrick Henry.  The volleyball, swimming, track and academic star is headed to the Tar Heels of North Carolina to pole vault. Both were humbled by the news, and were quick to point out the room was filled with nominees who were also deserving.  Blacksburg's Rachel McCoy takes home the Artie Levin personal life award as well.
