2 charged after beating man in the head during Durham armed robbery

DURHAM, N.C. -

Two men are accused of hitting another man in the head with guns during an armed robbery in Durham early Wednesday morning.

Traqwuan Nelson, 18, and Alvin Jones, 21, are facing armed robbery, kidnapping and assault charges. 

The victim told authorities that the suspects approached him as he was walking to his vehicle from the BP convenience store at 2406 Holloway Street around 1:15 a.m. Wednesday.

The victim said the two men forced him into his vehicle and made him drive to an ATM at The Village Shopping Center on North Miami Boulevard.

Police say Nelson and Jones hit the victim several times in the head and face with their guns. 

The victim was able to escape and find a police officer patrolling the area. The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment. 

Nelson and Jones are being held in the Durham County Jail under $1 million bonds.
