St. Pete woman beaten in home invasion

Posted: Updated:
ST PETERSBURG -

St. Petersburg Police say 63-year-old JiHi McEvoy was inside her home when two people broke in to rob her.

Police say twenty minutes earlier, Carrie Marcink, 28, came to the house at 261 79th Ave. NE and convinced McEvoy's son, Mickey White, 42, to take her to an ATM.

Marcink told White she would repay a debt to him if he would take her to the ATM.

St. Petersburg police say the two had a previous relationship, and police say Marcink owned White money for narcotics.

St. Petersburg Police spokesman Mike Puetz says, "Little did he know that apparently this woman was working in cahoots with two other people, and the idea was to get him out of the house, take him out of the area, and then they were going to come back and do a home invasion robbery to his mother's house."

Police say after Marcink and White left, Danielle Kelly Tennis, 24, and Christopher Eric Andrews, 41, broke into the home, and ransacked it.  Andrews is accused of severely beating McEvoy, even kicking her when she was on the ground.

Neighbors say McEvoy is a small woman. Police describe her as "petite".  Andrews is six feet, six inches tall and weighs more than 300 pounds.

McEvoy's neighbors are shocked.

Neighbor Troy Elson says, "I think it's disgusting. I hope they fry these people is all I can say, it's totally wrong, you know."

Another neighbor has security camera video from that night.

St. Petersburg Police believe it shows Andrews and Tennis leaving the home, moments after McEvoy was beaten.

Mike Puetz says when White returned, he found a horrific scene.

"When they returned, he went inside the house and found his mother on the floor. She was very badly beaten. She was unable to communicate exactly what had taken place," says Puetz.

White called 911, and police soon arrested Marcink.

Investigators say Marcink admitted to her role in the crime, and implicated Tennis and Andrews.

All three are now under arrest and facing charges of attempted first degree murder.
