President Barack Obama will address his administration's counter-terrorism policy in a speech this afternoon at the National Defense University. He'll discuss Al-Qaeda, the use of drones and the military prison at Guantanamo Bay.

The Boy Scouts of America will vote this morning on whether to allow openly gay scouts, though they won't be voting to lift the ban on gay scout leaders. More than 1,400 scout leaders from across the country will vote in a secret ballot.

The Roanoke Valley Metropolitan Planning Organization will vote today on how to spend $28 million from the federal government over the next six years. A committee has been pouring through applications for various projects in recent weeks.

Run for the Wall riders will arrive in our area today on their way to Washington for Memorial Day. They'll have breakfast with children in Wytheville, lunch with students at Montvale Elementary in Bedford then head to the D-Day Memorial in Bedford for a wreath laying ceremony.

"Because We Care Ministries" will hold an Oklahoma tornado relief supply drive this morning at First Baptist Church in Roanoke. They'll collect items beginning at 8.

The Roanoke Community Animal Response Team will do an exercise in pet sheltering and disaster veterinary response capabilities at the Roanoke Civic Center's Exhibit Hall beginning at 9:00 a.m. Today. It's part of the 3-day statewide VDEM 6.8 magnitude earthquake emergency exercise.

NCAA Division 2 Softball Championship games will be played throughout the day today in Salem. Games start at noon at the Moyer Sports Complex.

There's a regional business and education conference in Lynchburg today. TechEDGE is from 1:00-8:00 p.m. at the Downtown Holiday Inn.
