All Internal Revenue Service operations are closed today due to the budget situation facing the agency. The closures also include staffing at all IRS toll-free hotlines, the nearly 400 taxpayer assistance centers nationwide and the taxpayer advocate service. Housing and Urban Development offices will also be closed today as a result of the sequester which took effect back in March. Today will be the first of several closings scheduled through August.

Reserve Avenue, between Cambria Suites and Jefferson Street will be closed from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.. The closure will be in place through the end of Festival 2013 Monday night.

Pulaski Health & Rehab will collect items for Moore, Oklahoma tornado relief starting today. Items dropped off between 9:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. will be delivered to Gleaning For The World May 31st. God's Pit Crew will have a collection site at Danville Toyota as well from 10:00 a.m.to 7:00 p.m.

There will be a groundbreaking today on a multi-year, mixed-use riverfront development in Roanoke this morning at 11:30. The project is going up near the Virginia Tech-Carilion School of Medicine.

Splash Valley opens for the season this morning at 11. The Roanoke County water park will be open through Monday and again next weekend. It will open daily starting June 5th.

Crayola is reopening its tourist attraction in Easton, Pennsylvania today after a multimillion-dollar renovation. The Crayola Experience will feature 18 stations on four floors and will include personalized crayon-making and animated art adventures.
