Update: Salem roads reopen after water main break

SALEM, VA -

Update:

Roanoke Boulevard near its intersection with Easton Road in Salem reopened early Monday morning.

5 p.m.

Salem public information officer Mike Stevens tells WSLS a water main break is to blame for road closures.

He says it happened on Roanoke Boulevard near the GE Plant and Arnold R. Burton Tech Center.

A portion of Roanoke Boulevard is currently closed until further notice.

Viewer pictures show water shooting at least twenty feet in the air.

4:30 p.m.

We are getting several reports and viewer phone calls about roads being shut down in Salem.

We are checking with Salem about what's going on.

WSLS viewer Lynn LaDuke sent in this picture and info: "The corner of Roanoke Blvd at the driving range in Salem. The police have road blocked at corner of 419 North and Roanoke Blvd. East, and at the corner of Roanoke Blvd near the driving range."
