Starting today, Memorial Day through Labor Day, thousands of museums across the country will offer free admission to military personnel and their families. Free access to the museums gives the art community and others an opportunity to say thank you to military families for their service.

Congressman Robert Hurt will pay tribute to our veterans and service men and women this Memorial Day by addressing the Altavista American Legion & VFW. The address is at 11 this morning at the Altavista YMCA.

Narrows will hold its Memorial Day celebration parade through downtown this afternoon at 3:00.

Families of local veterans will sign and release balloons this afternoon at 2:30 in honor of Memorial Day. The ceremony will take place at Blue Ridge Memorial Garden in Roanoke.

Festival 2013 will wrap up tonight following a now free concert. 1964 The Tribute band will close out the four day event. The show begins at 2:00 at River's Edge Sports Complex in Roanoke.
