Roanoke Regional Airport power restored

ROANOKE, VA -

11 a.m. update

The airport says the power is back on. 

APCO's website shows power has been restored to customers in Roanoke City. 

A squirrel is being blamed for cutting power to the airport. An APCo. spokesperson says the rodent fiddled with some electrical equipment this morning causing an outage at the airport and surrounding areas.

"It wasn't horrible. we had to go off our plane and just walk around to get back inside but it wasn't that bad as far as power outage and stuff" said Jake Frye, a passenger.

9:45 a.m. 

The Roanoke Regional Airport says there is a power outage affecting the airport and Town Square shopping center. The airport is operating on generator power. They do not anticipate flight delays due to the power outage.

APCO reports 200 customers without power in Roanoke City.
