Last year WSLS partnered with the local chambers of commerce and Feeding America Southwest Virginia to raise awareness for the first ever Governor's Bowl Food and Fund Drive.
Now, we're back at it again to drum up support for the second annual fundraiser.
The governor has challenged Virginia's chambers of commerce and state agencies to restock these shelves.
The Salem-Roanoke County Chamber of Commerce Executive Director, Debbie Kavitz, says area businesses have jumped at the chance to get involved again.
"It was such a great success last year and the thing that we didn't talk about very much but was the by product was the camaraderie among the group and the people working together," Kavitz explained.
"I just appreciate the work because we know chamber of commerce members are very busy with everything else they have going on and so they take the extra effort and involve their membership and they get excited about this," said Pamela Irvine, Feeding America Southwest Virginia, President and CEO.
So far, five chambers of commerce have signed up in Southwest Virginia, along with a number of state agencies.
