Vinton Father of June finalist cares for paralyzed son

Posted: Updated:

We're proud to introduce our second finalist for our Fathers of June contest.

Mark Johnson from Vinton spends every day taking care of his son, Logan, who suffered a paralyzing spinal cord injury at birth.

Mark's wife Mitzi says at one of their lowest points in their life Mark stepped out on faith and looked at the situation as a blessing.

Mitzi nominated Mark for the contest, because he's been so hands on in caring for Logan over the past 16 years, on top of raising their two other sons, Luke and Landon.

"Most people are nervous about being new parents, but my husband took over and said we are going to do this, this is God's gift and I am going to learn how to take care of our beautiful son," Mitzi explained.

"There's a song that states my favorite view is the outside looking in and that's the way I feel about my family and the house," Mark said.

Mark says he and Logan have such a connection he can see just how much Logan trusts him by the look in his eyes.
