Roanoke "Just One Day" event saves 58 animals

Employees and volunteers at the Regional Center for Animal Control and Protection placed a total of 58 animals in new homes, fosters, or rescues at Tuesday's "Just One Day" event.

"Just One Day" encourages shelters across the country to open extended hours for adoptions and stop all euthanasia on the day the event is held.

The shelter placed 16 dogs and 27 cats.

It also arranged for another 15 dogs to be taken to a rescue in New York state.
