State Police bomb squad investigates suspicious Bedford County mailbox item

BEDFORD COUNTY, VA -

State Police bomb squad has made sure the device will not hurt anyone.

Road expected to re-open soon.

3:40 p.m.

The Bedford County Sheriff's Office and the State Police bomb squad are investigating a suspicious item found in a mailbox in Forest this morning.

A man living in the 4400 block of Perrowville Road called deputies at 11:28 a.m., after finding the suspicious item.

After deputies could not determine what the item was, they called in the State Police bomb squad.

Officers are still at the home, and part of Perrowville Road is blocked off.

WSLS 10's Katie Love is at the scene, and will have live updates starting on WSLS at 5 p.m.
