Pittsylvania County teens charged with kidnapping, killing dog

PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, VA -

The Pittsylvania County Sheriff's Office has charged two 17-year-olds in the kidnapping and killing of a dog.

The dog's owner filed a complaint with the sheriff's office on Tuesday, June 11th, that his dog had been missing for more than a month.

Deputies investigated, and that led to juvenile petitions being filed for two male teenagers on Wednesday, June 12th.

Investigators believe the pair kidnapped the dog, a Class 5 felony, and also killed the dog in an effort to hide the evidence of the theft.  The boys also face a charge of misdemeanor cruelty to an animal.

Both teens are being held at the W.W. Moore Jr. Juvenile Detention Home in Danville.

The investigation is ongoing, and deputies plan to make another arrest in the case.
