Highlanders Baseball Future is Bright

Posted: Updated:

Sometimes the ingredients to start a fire are all around you.  And all you need is a spark. For the Highlanders baseball team..that spark..was senior Tyler Crockett.  And the results---were the stuff of legend. Coach Billy Mills explained that Crockett had a talk with the team about five weeks ago..then led by example from there. He praised his only senior full-time starter for his leadership and performance.

Glenvar reached the Division 2 state title game before bowing out to Wilson Memorial 6-4. But the Highlanders had lost 9 of their first eleven games.  After Crockett's speech the team  ignited to the tune of a 13-3 run..that included District and Regional titles. With 6 freshman or sophomores in the starting 9.. And 13 of 16 returning players--the embers are glowing red...at the home of the Highlanders now.
