N.C. State is playing in the College World Series for the first time since 1968. N.C. State is playing in the College World Series for the first time since 1968.

It's a huge weekend for college baseball in the Old North State with both N.C. State and UNC ready for rivalry-sized rematch on the diamond.

But whether you're Wolfpack red or Carolina blue, for the businesses selling college merchandise, it's all about the green.

"We've been so busy. Everybody is so excited," said Amanda Harding at Chapel Hill Sportswear. "People love it, they just love it."

While the baseball teams battle it out in Omaha. Back in the Triangle, fans on both sides are making a line drive to the registers -- gearing up to show their support.

"We have been busy; we've been getting suppliers to overnight us shirts," said Mario Ciardella at Go Pack Store.

Store workers say their merchandise is flying off the shelves -- shirts, hats, flags, you name it. Of course, the most popular items are related to the College World Series. And for N.C. State fans, there has been a void of new CWS merchandise since 1968.

"College World Series is definitely been the main focal point of what people are looking for," Ciardella explained.

N.C. State student Arthur Kyner added, "1968 is the last time they made it to a World Series, so it's been a while, and it's good to have the team back."

Regardless of who takes it all in the end, these business owners say the retail rewards of both teams making it to the World Series is a homerun in itself

"It's always great for business to have teams do well," Harding said. "Because we do well nationally, it brings recognition not only to the town but to the university and the region."
