RALEIGH, N.C. -

The Raleigh Police Department arrested a suspect after he allegedly threatened a bank with a bomb during a robbery Monday.

Raleigh police said Scott Randall Gray, 51,  entered the PNC Bank on New Falls of Neuse Road around 1:20 p.m. Police said Gray announced the robbery, and that he had a bomb on him.

Gray then took money from the bank and left the bag that he said contained the bomb inside the bank, Raleigh police said. After Gray left the scene, the bank was evacuated. Police said no explosive device was inside the bag left behind by Gray.

Gray stole a Kia Sedona in the parking lot and fled the area. A short time later, Gray changed vehicles into a Honda, police said. This vehicle was stopped by a Wake County deputy near the intersection of Six Forks Road and Strickland Road.

Gray was taken into custody and charged with two counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon. One count is in relation to the theft of the Kia at the bank.

A second individual was in the Honda when the deputy stopped the vehicle. This person was questioned and released.

Gray is being held at the Wake County Detention Center.
