Vinton man voted Fathers of June winner for caring for paralyzed son

Posted: Updated:

After hundreds of votes WSLS viewers picked Mark Johnson as our Fathers of June contest winner.

Mark's wife Mitzi nominated him, because he's been so hands on in caring for their son, Logan, over the past 16 years on top of raising their two other sons Luke and Landon.

16-year-old Logan suffered a spinal chord injury during birth with forceps that has left him paralyzed from the neck down.

However, the reasons he's the Father of June are reasons he would give anything to change.

"I do feel like I've won it for Logan I would give anything to not have won this award and Logan be fine, but you play the hand that is dealt, Logan is a very special child and he touches my heart every day I wake up and see that face," Mark explained.

Mark says the response from the community has been outstanding and he's so grateful for their support.
