Flash Flood Watch until 6 p.m. - WSLS 10 NBC in Roanoke/Lynchburg Va

Flash Flood Watch until 6 p.m.

Posted: Updated:

A Flash Flood Watch is in effect until 6 p.m. Tuesday for areas along and north of Highway 460 as well as Franklin and Campbell Counties.

Heavy rain fell, up to two inches, across these areas this morning with more possible into the afternoon hours.

On average, up to three quarters of an inch of rain is expected this afternoon, but heavy showers and storms could produce one to three additional inches.

According to the National Weather Service, if rainfall exceed two inches in an hour, flash flooding will become likely.

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions are right for flooding to occur.  If flooding develops, warnings will be issued.
