SALEM, VA -

11:00 p.m.

For the second time in less than a week, the Roanoke Valley Horse Show suffers damage from severe weather.

A severe thunderstorm moved quickly through the Roanoke Valley between just before 6:00 p.m. and through 7:00 p.m.

The storms winds destroyed one horse tent outside the Salem Civic Center, and damaged two other tents.  We're told the tent that needs to be replaced was covering horses worth between $300,000-400,000.

Fortunately, none of the horses were hurt.

"Horses were scared, but they were remarkable calm considering that the tent, as you can see is destroyed, and we just started moving horses to empty stalls, where we could find a place to take them," said horse trainer Smith Lilly.

"Everybody has pitched in if you just take a look around even non horse people have come and said tell me what I can do, tell me how I can help," noted breed manager Peter Fenton.

As of Wednesday night, horse show organizers plan to make up postponed event, and the show will re-start as scheduled on Thursday morning.
