GILES COUNTY, VA -

Virginia State Police spokeswoman Corinne Geller says troopers have now identified the three people involved in the crash on Thursday, and released additional information.

The investigating trooper says a 1990 Jeep Comanche pick-up truck driven by 18-year-old Shane T. Wooten of Rich Creek, was driving north on Route 100, when it crossed the centerline about 200 feet south of the road's intersection with Route 659 in Giles County.

The truck hit a 20096 Chrysler Crossfire car, being driven by 54-year-old Lois A. Peters of Salem, Ohio.  Her husband, 58-year-old Robert E. Peters was in the passenger seat.

The trooper found all three people were wearing their seatbelts, and no alcohol was involved.

State Police say three people are being treated at local hospitals, after a head-on crash in Giles County Thursday evening.

Troopers tell WSLS the crash took place around 6:14 p.m. on Route 100, about a mile north of the road's intersection with Route 42.

Investigators believe a vehicle driving north on Route 100 crossed the centerline, and hit another vehicle going southbound.  A couple from Ohio was in the car driving south, and a man was in the vehicle driving north.

EMTs airlifted two of the three people hurt in the crash to Roanoke Memorial Hospital.  State Police say the pair have life-threatening injuries.

Investigators are waiting to release the names of the people involved, until after their families are notified.

The investigation is ongoing.
