Botetourt County is in a state of transition as it searches for a new emergency management director.
The county has been searching for a new director since Carr Boyd resigned after a little more than a year on the job.
As the county's first emergency director, Boyd had some well publicized disputes with local chiefs and captains on how to best deal with emergency situations.
Botetourt County Administrator Kathleen Guzi said it's important to get input from all the local departments before moving the process forward.
"I've been meeting with the captains and chiefs and everyone agrees that our system, where we're out now, we need that director position," she said. "Everyone's in that right place so now we just have to make sure we get someone with the right qualifications and is a good fit here in Botetourt (County)."
Guzi hopes to have the revised position posted by the end of the summer.
