The Montgomery County sheriff's office has a new computerized crime analysis system up and running.
The sheriff's office received the money to buy the software from the Virginia Department of Juvenile Justice.
The system will track, and even map, crimes, suspects, as well as dates and times of when crimes occur.
The sheriff's office will use the data to better allocate resources.
The software will analyze both juvenile and adult crime.
It is also compatible with software systems used by the Christiansburg and Blacksburg police departments, making it a truly regional crime fighting tool.
