RALEIGH, N.C. -

A driver led police on a wild chase through Garner and Raleigh Friday afternoon, slamming into mailboxes and other vehicles, including a sanitation truck, before being captured on foot.

The pursuit began at 12:23 p.m. Friday in Garner on Timber Drive and continued on Highway 70 into Raleigh. The driver, identified as Reginald Tyrone Massey, barreled up to Interstate 40 and exited at Poole Road, where police lost sight of the vehicle.

Deputies from the sheriff's office took over around New Bern Avenue, where the Massey hit two other vehicles and a City of Raleigh sanitation truck.

Massey, 27, was captured after jumping out of the car and running away. Massey and others were taken to the hospital.

Massey is being charged with speeding to elude arrest, possession with intent to sell, maintaining a vehicle to sell and deliver. Pending charges against Massey are hit-and-run, and careless and reckless driving.

Two other vehicles and a sanitation truck were hit during the chase.
