Moneta Volunteer Fire Department July 4th preparations

Posted: Updated:
Moneta, VA -

As we get closer to July, the Moneta Volunteer Fire Department is getting ready for their big July 4th fireworks display.

This is the third year the department will host the Independence Day celebration. It's not just about the holiday for them, it's also a chance to raise some extra money. As volunteers, they're responsible for about 40% of their operating budget.

President of the Moneta Fire Department, Jeffrey Pauley says "It's the biggest single event that we do. Last year we netted about $18,000. I'd love to double that this year, that would be wonderful."

The celebration is July 4th starting at 6 p.m. In Downtown Moneta. There will be vendors, food, music, games and even some local wineries.
