Thousands line the streets for 'Star City Motor Madness'

Posted: Updated:

Hundreds of people lined the streets of Williamson Road to get a look at some classic and speciality cars in the Star City Motor Madness.'

"This is like the third or fourth time I've come up in a row," classic car owner, Mike Brooks says. "I always make a point to come up here."

Mike Brooks traveled from Tennessee just to see the car show.

Brooks is one of many people are filling up local hotels, eating at local restaurants, and boosting the economy.

Elvis Mullins works at Sports Legends Bar, right along Williamson Road. He says the large crowds are something he looks forward to each year.

"Businesses here really grow from it," Mullins says.

It's not just businesses that are excited about the trip down memory lane.

"This car is just a year younger than I am," class car owner, Earl Dalton says.

Earl Dalton says he's never missed any of the Motor Madness events.

"I grew up in a day where these fat boy fenders were very popular," Dalton says.

There's lot to show when it comes to these cars and old and young alike couldn't keep their eyes off of them.

The events continue in Downtown Roanoke from 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
