Vinton rallies to raise money for sick infant

Posted: Updated:
VINTON, VA -

The community of Vinton is rallying around a seven-month old boy and his family.

Stone Anderson was born with intestinal issues and has already undergone surgery to correct the problem. His health issues, however, continue to multiply.

Right now he is struggling to gain weight.

Matt Anderson says you couldn't tell his son was sick judging by the smile on his face. But there is a world of complications underneath that wide-eyed grin.

"We just found out that he is basically allergic to food," Matt Anderson said. "When he eats, it is like if you or I ate poison ivy and swallowed it down with acid."

Stone must now be on a hypoallergenic diet and be fed through a feeding tube.

It cost fifty dollars a day to feed baby Stone.

Now, friends and neighbors are organizing several fundraiser's to help the family with medical expenses.

A family friend is hosting a concert at the Vinton Farmers Market Saturday at 7pm.

There will be a silent auction, raffle and Bluegrass/County music bands through out the night.
