A Danville man is awaiting his first court appearance after being charged in a 17-year-old cold case.
Danville Police say 39-year-old Michael Womack has been charged with killing his mother in July 1996.
Investigators believe Michael hit and killed 48-year-old Lorraine "Bessie" Womack at her home.
He's charged with first degree murder.
Michael was already serving a prison sentence for robbery when the murder charge was handed down.
He has been transported to Danville as he awaits trial.
