Administrators of VDOT's Lynchburg district say they've met Governor Bob McDonnell's call for a "mowing blitz" ahead of the July 4th holiday.
According to Paula Jones, all primary roads in the Lynchburg district have been mowed as of Tuesday, and about 80% of secondary roads have been mowed.
"Our state crews and contractor forces have made a significant effort to improve sight distance along roadways and to contribute to the overall appearance of the state," said T.A. Wiles, IV, assistant district administrator for maintenance operations in the district, in a news release.
Wiles added that drivers should be on the lookout for mowing crews still at work, and reminded drivers of Virginia's "Move Over" law.
