Ariel Castro will have a competency hearing to make sure he is able to understand the charges and help attorneys in his defense. Castro faces 329 charges including murder, kidnapping and rape.

President Barack Obama's nominee to be the next U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations will face criticism later tonight.     According to Roanoke City Police a shooting suspect is at large after one person was shot on the Roanoke River Greenway near the Ramada Inn on Franklin Road. Police say the victim has non-life threatening injuries. The call came in around 8:55.
