They're already some of the best young athletes in the Roanoke Valley -- and now four local soccer teams will have the chance to prove they're among the best in the world.
The Roanoke Star Soccer Club's U-14 Premiere and Elite girls teams, as well as the U-15 Premiere and Elite boys teams got in one last practice Tuesday night before they head to Europe for the Gothia Youth World Cup.
More than 1,600 teams from 80 different countries will compete in the event, which takes place July 15- 20 in Sweden and Denmark.
"We're going to have to come out really hard each game not knowing how the style of play is where they're from," said Shannon Mitchell, one of the players going on the trip. "But it will be really exciting and a great learning experience for everyone."
All four teams fly out to Europe this upcoming weekend.
