Virginia State Police are boosting road patrols for the holiday through Sunday night.

Patrols hope to reduce crashes and injuries by catching those speeding, driving impaired, and not wearing seat belts.

AAA Mid-Atlantic expects more than 1.1 million Virginians to hit the roads over the holiday break.

VDOT will suspend highway lane closures through Friday at noon to help holiday travelers reach their Independence day destinations.

You can check traffic conditions by calling 511.
